Saga of Valor & Supreme Sacrifice

On 9–10 September 1965 at the Battle of Asal Uttar in Khem Karan sector, CQMH Abdul Hamid was commanding a recoilless gun detachment mounted on a Jeep. Facing the formidable 1st Armoured Division of Pakistan equipped with Patton tanks, he camouflaged his Jeep in sugar-cane fields and destroyed six enemy tanks one after another. As he aimed at the seventh tank, a high-explosive shell struck his vehicle, sealing his eternal glory.
