On 27–28 November 2008 during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan led the NSG commandos inside the Taj Hotel. When his colleague Commando Sunil Yadav was hit, Sandeep engaged terrorists single-handedly to cover Yadav's evacuation.
