“Epic stand at Rezang La in Ladakh at 16,000 feet, inspiring 120 bravehearts to repel thousands of enemy soldiers till the last man.”

Saga of Valor & Supreme Sacrifice

On 18 November 1962 at Rezang La, Major Shaitan Singh commanded Charlie Company of 13 Kumaon. In freezing blizzard conditions at 16,000 feet, his company fought against overwhelming Chinese forces. Though grievously wounded, he moved from trench to trench directing fire until he ordered his soldiers to leave him and fight on. The 120 soldiers of Charlie Company killed over 1,000 enemy attackers in one of history's greatest defensive stands.
