Saga of Valor & Supreme Sacrifice

In June 1987, Pakistani forces occupied an almost impregnable position called 'Quaid Post' at an altitude of 21,153 feet on the Siachen Glacier. Naib Subedar Bana Singh led a small assault party of five men. In blinding blizzards and minus 50°C temperatures, they scaled an impossible 1,500-foot vertical wall of sheer ice. Bana Singh lobbed grenades into the roofed bunker and cleared the post in savage close-quarter battle, winning eternal victory for India.
